Lily's First Trip to the Dentist
Lily had her first dental checkup today. She did a great job overall, although she didn't like the hygienist's cleaning tool. She let her look at her teeth and brush them with a regular toothbrush, and she rinsed with the water and suction tube. I think we could have coaxed her into opening up for a full cleaning, but we wanted to keep her first dental visit as pleasant as possible so we didn't pressure her. The hygienist was very nice, and really great with Lily. She gave Lily a spinbrush toothbrush to use at home sometimes, so she can get used to the noise and feel more comfortable with having her teeth cleaned at the dentist's office next time. Next, Lily met her dentist, Dr. Caldwell, for the first time. She was a little apprehensive, but she did let him examine her teeth. He was really nice too, and Lily got a good report - healthy, clean teeth!
We had a great experience for Lily's first dental checkup!

Baby's First Meal
Dylan had his first taste of rice cereal at lunchtime today! He definitely enjoyed it. His expressions were very funny, especially with the first bite - he didn't know what to think or what to do with the cereal in his mouth. He caught on quickly, though, and by the end of his feeding he was moving the cereal around in his mouth and swallowing some of it. We ended up with at least as much on the bib as went into his tummy, but that's to be expected for the first try. I have a feeling this little guy is going to be a hungry piglet when he really catches on to eating solids!

Dylan's New Endeavors
Dylan rolled over today! He's been rolling from tummy to back for quite awhile, but this afternoon he rolled from back to tummy for the first time. Dylan, Lily, and I were all so proud! Dylan was so cute because he wiggled back and forth for a few minutes, trying to roll, before he finally made it onto his tummy. You could tell that he was proud of himself. Lily was really excited for him because she was laying on the floor with me, encouraging him. I wouldn't let her move any closer to him, because I didn't want her to stop him from rolling; so she had been eagerly anticipating his rolling over almost as much as I was. She was so sweet, telling him what a good job he had done.
I recently started adjusting Dylan's routine so he's eating less often throughout the day, and taking more consistent naps. He's doing really well with it, and I think we'll go ahead and start feeding him cereal sometime this week.
Dylan's two bottom teeth seem to be getting close to breaking through. Poor little guy was having a rough time on Friday evening, but thank goodness for baby orajel.
I think teething is to blame for this last new development - Chewing on his hands all the time caused Dylan to discover his thumb. As much as he loves his pacifier, I thought he wouldn't care about his thumb, but that's not the case. It is not accidental when the thumb makes its way to his mouth - he totally does it on purpose. I just checked on him sleeping in bed before I sat down to write this post, and what do you know, his thumb is in his mouth. It's pretty cute.

Dylan's First Camping Trip
Dylan had his first camping trip! We spent the night in Galveston with Grandma and Grandpa Corning and Uncle Jerry and Aunt Darcy. We all stayed in Grandma and Grandpa's camper. Lily slept in a sleeping bag, and Grandma made a bed for Dylan in the front of the RV, between the driver's seat and passenger's seat.
I like this picture of Lily holding Dylan - she was helping him hold onto her sunglasses.

Rodeo Houston
We always have a great time at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo! Grandma and Grandpa Corning and Uncle Jerry and Aunt Darcy joined us at the rodeo this year. We visited the carnival and Little Farmer area, enjoyed some rodeo food, and headed over to the stadium for the rodeo and Kenny Chesney concert. Lily was so worn out, she fell asleep sitting up during the show. Dylan had his eyes glued on the big screens!
