Happy Birthday to Lily!

Six years old... Lily had a great day at school, sharing cupcakes with her classmates at the end of the day and receiving a special birthday pencil and a little key ring to celebrate. And the most exciting part of her birthday school day - she lost a front tooth while she was at school! She was SO excited when she came out of the school building that afternoon! At home she got to open presents, and we had birthday brownies after dinner at Chic-fil-A.

Rollerskates

This looks dangerous!  Lily had fun trying out her rollerskates for the first time. She fell down quite a bit, but since she was basically wrapped up in bubble wrap, she didn't get hurt at all. When she tried skating again a couple weeks later, her feet had grown and barely fit inside the skates. I guess she'll be passing these down to Dylan sooner than expected!

Lily had an early birthday

We had a little birthday party a few days early for Lily while we were still in Iowa. She really enjoyed celebrating her birthday with cousins - something she had never been able to do before.

Yahtzee Junior

Jenga -- Lily was very good at Jenga! The tower was really tall before it finally crashed. Here you can see her serious concentration.

Christmas Morning 2012

We had a very Merry Christmas celebrating Jesus' birthday! Here are a few of my favorite snapshots from Christmas morning. We always have fun with our scavenger hunts! This year the kids had to visit places like the bathtub, pantry, mailbox, and garage for some of their clues. Lily found her Connect 4 game in the garage, and Dylan found his Thor action figure in the laundry room. It's such a fun tradition.

Christmas Light Hayride

Our church group went on a hayride through our neighborhood to look at Christmas lights. I think the kids actually enjoyed the ride more than the lights.

Zoo Lights Family Night Out

The Houston Zoo is so much fun! We attended the new event "Zoo Lights" in December, where we got to tour the zoo after dark, taking in all the great Christmas light displays throughout the grounds and seeing some of the animals from a different perspective than usual. After Zoo Lights, we headed over to The Chocolate Bar for a special treat and found a funny statue of Santa along the way.
