Towel Elephant

Several mornings while we were at the hotel, we returned to our room to find various creatures made from the towels, with fresh flowers around them. Lily especially loved the elephant, and she practiced making silly and scary faces for the pictures. It's so funny because she's trying so hard to be scary, but it just comes out cute and silly.

Dinner at Il Pescatore

Il Pescatore is the name of the Italian restaurant at the resort. We ate there several times throughout the week, but it was much easier to just call it the Italian place. Here are some pictures of Lily and Grandma Dixie the first time we ate there. And Uncle Jason is in the background.

Dylan By the Pool

We debated about taking the stroller with us on vacation, not knowing whether we would really use it very much while we were actually there. Of course it would be handy in the airports, but we wondered if it would just be in the way in the hotel room. Turns out, we're really glad we took it with us! We used it a lot when we were out and about, and Dylan took his nap by the pool a couple of times.

Dolphin Character

A friendly dolphin character visited the pool, and Lily just loved him. She played with him and gave him lots of hugs and kisses. Bri got the dolphin to try playing catch with Dylan's ball, and she also got him to do a little kick like he was dancing. It was really funny - the guy inside the costume was a very good sport.

Waiting for the Shuttle

Lily and Daddy having fun with Daddy's hat while we waited for the shuttle... Notice Dylan sound asleep in the front of the stroller!

Arrival

After landing in Cancun, we got the kids into the stroller and rounded up our luggage. Dylan wouldn't sleep on the plane, but he was out within minutes of getting into the stroller. We made our way outside to the platform where the shuttles were (that's where we took the pictures below), and it was only a few minutes before we were on our shuttle headed to Playa. We had a great experience with the Best Day shuttle service.

Waiting to Board

Our Trip to Mexico
We left our house at 5:30am on Tuesday, April 26th. Traffic was a breeze, and we got to the airport right on schedule. We got checked in and through security without any issues, and we settled down at our gate for a short wait before boarding the plane. We ate some breakfast sandwiches, and Lily had a fabulous time playing on the horizontal escalator thingy. What are those moving sidewalk things called, anyway?

Everyone was excited to get on the plane, and the plane ride went well at first. The last half of the flight, though, was pretty rough. Dylan just did not want to sit still anymore, and he was tired of virtually all the activities we had brought for him. But the flight was only about two hours, so we were in Cancun before we knew it.

Easel

Sometimes while I'm making dinner, I can keep both of the kids happily occupied with the easel. Sometimes. If it's a quick and easy meal. Fortunately, the dry-erase markers and crayons wipe off of the chalkboard easily if Dylan gets ahold of Lily's things. Surprisingly, he does a pretty good job of staying at the easel with his chalk instead of carrying it around the house.

Happy Easter

Here are a few pictures of the kids checking out their Easter baskets. Notice Dylan has a lollipop open before he even looks at anything else. Lily loves her Sleeping Beauty sunglasses. We've been keeping them in the car, and she wears them all the time. Lily's mismatched jammies make me smile... She's been dressing herself most of the time lately, so she comes up with some interesting combinations.

Easter at Enchanted Forest

We visited Enchanted Forest for their Easter egg hunt, and it was SOOO much fun! We got there early to look around at the plants and flowers, and then got in line to wait to enter the egg hunt area. When it was time, they let everyone cross the little bridge to see where the egg hunt would be. There was a smaller area for the little bitty kids, and a bigger area for the older ones. We were surprised to find hay covering the ground, so the kids really had to HUNT for their eggs! I took Dylan to his smaller area, while Dusty went with Lily. They each found quite a few eggs, and Dylan was lucky enough to find a GOLDEN egg! He turned it in for a prize, a stuffed bunny.
After the hunt, everyone enjoyed cookies and juice, and Lily got to hold a baby rabbit.  This is her great big smile right after the bunny hopped out of her arms - she was really excited.

Daddy wore the yellow bunny ears!

Easter at School

Lily and her classmates had an Easter egg hunt and then went back to the classroom for cupcakes and juice. I brought some extra eggs so Dylan could find some too, and he was happy to find some sports-themed eggs in the grass. The ones that look like a football or a baseball are his favorite. He did not, however, want Lily to touch him! She was trying to be sweet to him, but he didn't want any hugs.

Easter Bunny at Chick-fil-A

The same day as Lily's Easter party at school, we went to Chick-fil-A for dinner so we could visit the Easter bunny. Dylan was absolutely petrified, but Lily was fascinated. She flopped the poor bunny's ears around for a long time, examining his costume and playing with him.

Paint with Water

Dylan's first painting!!! Each of the kids "painted" several pages in this Care Bears paint with water book. Dylan had fun alternating between painting and trying to drink the water from his little cup.
