Lily's Swim Lessons

Lily started swim lessons yesterday. This is the first class she has done on her own; last summer we did a Mommy & Me class. There are only three kids in her class, so it's great that they each get plenty of attention from the instructor. Lily had fun and did really well overall, only getting upset one time when she got water in her nose. I'll try to get some better pictures next time.

Dylan Sitting in the Boppy Pillow

Here is a video of Dylan sitting in the Boppy pillow last night.  It looks like it won't be long before he's sitting up all by himself!

Backyard Fun

We had lots of fun playing outside together this afternoon.  This was Dylan's first time in the swing, and he loves it!  Lily enjoyed pushing the swing for him, but she really didn't want to slide with him.  She thought it would be better if they went separately.  She's really been wanting to climb trees lately, which sounds like fun, but most of our trees don't have any branches low enough for climbing.  But Daddy lifted her up so she could at least hang on the branch like a monkey.  Silly girl.  We also played hide and seek, which is a real hoot.  Whenever Lily hides, she tells you where she's hiding.  And we ran races, but Lily doesn't wait until you say "go."  She usually runs on "set."

Lily Holding Dylan

Lily doesn't ask to hold Dylan as often as she did in the first few weeks, so when she asked yesterday, "Mommy can I hold my baby brother Dylan?" I immediately said yes. She may not hold him as often, but she still takes care of him and plays with him all the time. My babies love each other so much. These sweet pictures are so precious to me!

Video of Dylan Rolling Over

Sorry this video is so choppy, but you get the idea - rolling over from tummy to back.  Enjoy!

Hello Friend!

Stephen and Dylan are SO cute together! We laid them down facing each other for just a few minutes, and they smiled and talked to each other right away. Dylan got all excited and managed to scoot himself forward onto Stephen's blanket. They were both so happy to be looking at each other - it was so sweet to watch.  Here are some photos of them saying hello!

Swing

Dylan is not a big fan of the swing. I think he resents the fact that it can make him fall asleep even when he doesn't want to. haha!

Blue Bunny Rabbit

Lily received this soft bunny rabbit as a gift for her first Easter. Dylan loves it! And Lily actually seems to enjoy that Dylan likes something that is hers.

Nebulizer

Dylan's nebulizer treatments for his RSV have been interesting... Sometimes he doesn't mind the treatment and is happy throughout; other times he literally screams the entire time. Most of the time he starts out all right and gets upset for the last couple of minutes. The pediatric mask we're using is a little too big for him, but it does the job. Dylan tries to chew on it. Thankfully, the medicine is working and he is on the mend. Lily doesn't like it when Dylan has to have a treatment; she always tells me, "Dylan doens't want his medicine, Mom, he doesn't like it."

Dylan's 4-Month Well Check

Dylan visited Dr. Dickerson today for his four-month well check. He weighs 14 lbs 9 oz, which puts him between the 25th and 50th percentiles. And he's 25 inches long, which is also between the 25th and 50th percentiles. He's staying right on track with his growth, and he has also met all of the developmental milestones Dr. Dickerson was looking for as well. I posted here on the blog a couple of weeks ago that Dylan is rolling over now, but he only actually rolled two times that week and not at all last week. So as I was telling Dr. Dickerson this, she laid him down on his tummy and he promptly rolled over to show her that yes, he really can do it he just doesn't want to show off too much at home. hahaha!
Unfortunately our well check turned into a sick visit because Dylan has a cold. And it's not just any cold, it's RSV. We weren't surprised when Dylan started sneezing and then coughing late last week, since Lily was also sick all last week. But Lily's RSV test was negative, so I was surprised today when Dylan's test was positive. I suspect that Lily also had RSV but we tested her too late for it to show up. Since Dylan is so young, Dr. Dickerson prescribed nebulizer treatments to keep his airways open. RSV can be devastating for babies, so it's so much better to be on the safe side with breathing treatments than to wait until he gets worse to start them. Thankfully, his lungs sound clear right now, and he's still been sleeping just fine. The only time he even seems to notice that he's sick is sometimes when he's eating because it's hard for him to breathe through his stuffy nose. Otherwise he's still his happy-go-lucky self, so hopefully we'll head off the RSV before it really gets to him. We'll have to go back to the doctor's office for his immunizations after he's over this yucky cold. Here's a picture of him sleeping in his car seat after we got home from his doctor visit.

Super Bowl

Lily explained to me very matter-of-factly that we were going to watch a football game, and it's called the Super Bowl. It was very cute. During the game Lily played dressup, while Dylan hung out and watched the game in his football jammies.  They say "Daddy's Team" on them, which makes sense, because someone on Mommy's Team certainly wouldn't be holding a beer.  Maybe a margarita, but not a beer.

Chipmunk at the Children's Museum

Oh, that's not a chipmunk, it's Dylan! Check out those cheeks! This was taken during our visit to the Children's Museum a few weeks ago.

Topper the Giraffe

You've all met Topper before, but usually he's snuggled with Lily. Luckily we have a few extra Toppers around the house, because Dylan loves him. Topper is fun to look at during tummy time, he's fun to reach for when laying on your back, he's yummy to chew on in the bouncy seat, and he's snuggly and cuddly when you're sleepy like in the pictures below.  And the best part is, Lily likes to share Topper with Dylan!  She knows there are plenty of Toppers to go around, so she doesn't mind if her baby brother wants to snuggle with one.
