Dylan visited Dr. Dickerson today for his four-month well check. He weighs 14 lbs 9 oz, which puts him between the 25th and 50th percentiles. And he's 25 inches long, which is also between the 25th and 50th percentiles. He's staying right on track with his growth, and he has also met all of the developmental milestones Dr. Dickerson was looking for as well. I posted here on the blog a couple of weeks ago that Dylan is rolling over now, but he only actually rolled two times that week and not at all last week. So as I was telling Dr. Dickerson this, she laid him down on his tummy and he promptly rolled over to show her that yes, he really can do it he just doesn't want to show off too much at home. hahaha!
Unfortunately our well check turned into a sick visit because Dylan has a cold. And it's not just any cold, it's RSV. We weren't surprised when Dylan started sneezing and then coughing late last week, since Lily was also sick all last week. But Lily's RSV test was negative, so I was surprised today when Dylan's test was positive. I suspect that Lily also had RSV but we tested her too late for it to show up. Since Dylan is so young, Dr. Dickerson prescribed nebulizer treatments to keep his airways open. RSV can be devastating for babies, so it's so much better to be on the safe side with breathing treatments than to wait until he gets worse to start them. Thankfully, his lungs sound clear right now, and he's still been sleeping just fine. The only time he even seems to notice that he's sick is sometimes when he's eating because it's hard for him to breathe through his stuffy nose. Otherwise he's still his happy-go-lucky self, so hopefully we'll head off the RSV before it really gets to him. We'll have to go back to the doctor's office for his immunizations after he's over this yucky cold. Here's a picture of him sleeping in his car seat after we got home from his doctor visit.
